Summary: Under Commission Regulation (EU) 283/2013, setting out the data requirement for pesticides active substances, short-term oral toxicity studies conducted in rodents (e.g. 90-day rat) and non-rodents (i.e. dog) species should be always submitted. The present analysis is intended to contribute to the assessment of the utility of dog as second species to adequately address hazard identification and human safety of the active substances used in plant protection products.
