Barney the Labrador - 3 Weeks Residential Dog Training

Published
Barney the Labrador has completed his 3 week residential training holiday

After his owners rescued Barney, they did lots and lots of work with him and began working with their trainer even before Barneys stay which resulted in tremendous progress in his behaviours.

Once Barney joined his trainer, they began working hard on his lead walking. This was a very big struggle for his owners for a while and Barney was showing little to no progress with lots of hard work. Barney can now walk well on the lead and stay calmly by his owners side, even in busier environments. This is crucial for his London life and Barney is already showing early success back home.

Barney was also dog obsessed and felt the need to say hello to every dog he saw, rushing over off leash or dragging his owner over. We have worked lots on Barneys independent thinking and he can now make the choice to check in with his owner when he sees a dog instead of impulsively acting on this urge. Barney can also now stay in a wait whilst dogs go past and focus on his owners when they are nearby instead of just wanting to play.

Last but not least, Barney has been great at working on his settling and door manners when people come over, as well as his recall. We have worked hard to maintain and develop his already great knowledge and are excited to continue to work with his owners now Barney is home.
