Charlie the Labrador - 4 Weeks Residential Dog Training

Published
Charlie the Labrador has completed his 4 week residential training stay

Charlie is one of the most loving dogs and he loves people. Sadly, when he was a pup he got attacked by another dog and since then has been very reactive, even resulting in hurting another dog to try and protect himself.

Charlie has made an amazing transformation whilst with his trainer and is now comfortable around other dogs and can calmly sit and wait as well as disengage from them instead of barking, lunging and going in to bite. We have found that Charlie needed to learn that there was no pressure to interact with other dogs and teaching him that watching and disengaging gives him the space he wants which means he now chooses this instead of his old ways.

Charlie’s owner is very nervous, but loves him dearly. So we will be working closely with him and his owner to ensure all the work transfers and she gains the confidence she needs out and about.

Aside from this, Charlie’s recall and lead walking have been another areas we have worked on so he is more focused when outdoors and doesn’t find pressure on his harness or collar something negative which would cause him to outburst.

Charlie has been a pleasure to work with and will be missed dearly ♥️
